Here's the story . . .
When Callum first laid eyes on this doll, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was a doll of a woman he'd seen in his dreams for 20 years!
At the time, he was 26 years old and engaged to a woman named Gemma. He recently moved from Delaware to Colorado for a job. He bought a house, was settling in, and getting everything ready for his upcoming wedding and new bride. And then he saw her. A doll of the woman who has been coming to him in vivid dreams since childhood.
His little neighbor girl and her mother just returned home from shopping. The doll was in it's original clear plastic case, and the little girl was carrying it into the house. He rushed over to them and asked to see the doll. When he closely examined it, he was certain it was an exact replica of Eva, the woman from his dream. He asked where she got it. He received a vague answer he didn't understand. When he pressed, the mother said it was shipped to them and it was the last one available at that time. He asked to buy it, and they refused.
Over the next month, Callum became increasingly anxious about the doll, and he started having dreams of Eva again. In the past, these dreams would come in waves. He would have a couple dreams per month and then go several months with no dreams at all. After seeing the doll, though, he dreamed of Eva every night.
One night, he couldn't take it any longer. It was midnight when he found himself pounding on his neighbor's door. When the woman answered the door, Callum was in a sweat and panic. He begged to buy the doll. The woman was horrified by the display and questioned his stability. In fear, she agreed to sell him the doll. He gave her $500, much higher than what she originally paid, and was on his way.
We don't know what happened in the weeks after he took the doll into his home. He only left to go to work and came straight home. When he spoke to Gemma, he would only give short answers and cut the calls short.
One Thursday, Gemma flew to Colorado for a long weekend. She wanted to get some new things for the house, and she had a job interview that Friday. She was surprised to see the doll on the dining room table when she first came into the house. She thought it was a gift for her. She picked it up and commented about how beautiful it was. Callum immediately snatched the doll from her and took it to the spare bedroom.
During her visit, Gemma noticed how strangely Callum was behaving. He wasn't his normal, fun-loving self. He was serious, on edge, and moody. She asked if he was having second thoughts about the wedding, and he said yes. He told her he was in love with Eva. Gemma was devastated and asked about Eva.
Callum said Eva was born in 1898 and died of the Spanish Flu in 1918. Her spirit roamed for many years until she found him as a child. She attached to him and starting coming to him in dreams. At first, the dreams were of Eva as a child. Eva became older in the dreams as Callum became older in real life. When Callum reached 16 or so, the dreams became romantic in nature. It was as though he and Eva had a relationship in the dream world. It grew deeper with time. Every dream was similar yet different.
Gemma thought Callum was having a mental breakdown, and she tried to help him. She was understanding and comforting. But she became alarmed when he went on to tell her the spirit of Eva is in the doll.
Callum said the doll looks exactly like Eva and told Gemma the story about how to bought the doll from his neighbor. He said, Eva told him the doll was fashioned after an old picture of her from January 1918, two months before she became sick with the flu. She guided the little girl to buy the doll and that's how Callum was able to see her. Once Callum took the doll into his home, her spirit was able to leap into it and show herself to him.
Upon hearing this Gemma immediately packed and left. After she returned to Delaware, she tried to talk Callum into seeing a mental health professional, but he refused. He called off the wedding, and Gemma didn't hear anything else from him.
About a year later, Gemma received a couple boxes of items that belonged to Callum with no explanation. She tried to contact Callum, but his phone was disconnected. She contacted his mother and explained boxes of Callum's personal items arrived at her door. His mother explained that Callum committed suicide, and he wanted Gemma to have the things that were sent to her. She was saddened to hear of his death. She still loved him a great deal. This confirmed, in her mind, that he was suffering from a breakdown, and she felt guilty. She thought she could have done more to help him.
He left her sentimental items, like pictures, journals, old books, trophies from his baseball days, some expensive jewelry, jackets, and the doll. The doll was well packed with lots of paper. Gemma didn't know what was inside. When she pulled her out, Gemma abruptly dropped the doll from her hands to the couch and stood up. She said the doll moved her leg downward and moved her body in Gemma's direction. Gemma was freaked out by the entire situation.
She called her best friend, Stevie, and told her the whole story. Stevie was into the gothic lifestyle back then, and she asked Gemma if she could buy the doll from her. Gemma agreed, and Stevie took possession of the doll.
Stevie had the doll for many years. She absolutely loved her. She experienced a total of 229 paranormal episodes centered around the doll, and she recorded every one in her diary. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see her diary as it was lost in a cross-country move. But her daughter, Rose, who we bought the doll from, remembers various incidents.
Apparently, the spirit, Eva, appeared behind this doll countless times. Others have seen her, too. One such occasion happened when Stevie hosted a huge Christmas party filled with family and friends.
Several people reported speaking to a lovely young woman named Eva that night. Some of her guests wanted to know her contact information to invite her to a New Year's Eve party. Others wanted to send her a holiday gift. Stevie, herself, thought she saw glimpses of someone resembling Eva at her party. When she asked her guests to describe Eva, they described her exactly right. And, upon seeing the doll, one person commented she looked just like the doll.
Eva would comfort Stevie when she had her regular bouts of depression. She was a "dear friend" who always cheered her up. Callum appeared with Eva often, and sometimes on his own.
Rose remembers having an experience one night when she woke up to use the bathroom. She saw a soft light from the stairway. When she moved closer, she saw a glowing man sitting on the staircase with his back to her. He turned sharply, smiled at her, and faded away. After she was shown a picture of Callum, she was able to identify him as the man she saw on the stairs.
When Rose was a child, she woke up multiple times to the spirit of Eva standing over her bed smiling. After Rose's baby boy was born, she often walked into the nursery only to find Eva standing over the baby's crib. She would look back at Rose, smile and then fade away. This, in no way, frightened Rose. It was a comfort knowing Eva was watching over her child.
The doll whispers in the early morning hours. It's not daily but it is fairly regular. The time she starts whispering is usually around 4 a.m., and it continues for about an hour. Some things are easy to understand. Other things are impossible to understand.
She moves as well. Not the doll itself. It's a fine porcelain doll, and it's in a set position. But the doll seems to "shuffle" the stand around. It will be facing north one minute, and then south the next. It moves position so its eyes are on someone.
When we asked Rose why she was selling Eva, she said because the activity has become so strong in recent years that it's disruptive to her daily life. At first, activity was apparent, then frequent, then more frequent than not, then constant. (This progression happened over many years.) Rose is unable to work from home, have private time with her husband and son, or have guests over anymore. It's too exhausting for her.
The spirits are not malicious. They're kind, comforting, and sincere. The first year or so, you may just experience subtle activity from the doll. But as time goes on, visions may occur and it may increase. We can't predict if or when that will happen, but Rose just wants the new owners to expect a lot of "noise" and "activity" as time goes on so you're not shocked by it.
Since everyone has had positive experiences with this beautiful doll, we have no apprehensions about selling her to a novice.
Specifics ~
This is a Dame Eliza Jane doll from the Brass Key Orient Express Collection. She's a genuine porcelain doll, fancily dressed and in excellent condition. She has dreamy brown eyes, beautiful brunette hair, a fair skin tone, with fine feminine features. Her clothes, shoes, and accessories are exquisite. She's an 18 inch doll on a secure doll stand. Although the Dame Eliza Jane doll is all over Etsy and ebay, it was difficult to find information about the company that created this doll. We finally did. However, we weren't able to find any history pertaining to the creation background of this particular doll mold. So it's unclear whether she was inspired by a real person the way Callum insisted.

Vintage & Antique Items ~
Not all of our items have “haunting histories” so please read each listing very carefully. For the items that do have haunting histories . . .
They will arrive to you as we receive or find them. We do not “spiritually cleanse”, physically restore, or even dust off these items. They're all sold "as is". We don't want to disturb their energy state as any part of the object is an extension of that energy. If you, the new owner, decide to clean or restore the item, that's your choice, of course, but many do not. By sending the object to you the way we received it, you can make the decision rather than us making it for you.
Energy cannot be destroyed but can be transferred or transformed. So maybe it’s not such a far-reaching, kooky, or ridiculous idea that intelligent energy could attach to a special object. However, attachment and expression are two different things. Just because a haunted object exists doesn’t necessarily mean it will produce a paranormal result. Perhaps the intelligence behind it needs to be in a comfortable and secure position before reacting. So please allow time for your object to bond to you before you see results of any spiritual manifestations. Bonding could happen immediately, or it could happen in six months or a year. In some cases, it doesn't happen at all for one person but a friend or a family member or even a pet could cause a reaction. If you're magnetically drawn to an item, it's meant for you. That doesn't mean it will open up to you immediately. But it does mean, it most likely will.
