Here's the story . . .

We received a gorgeous ruby bracelet that belonged to Elizabeth Bathory from our Eastern European curator. (It's listed with us.) At that time, we were also trying to list a ring that belonged to her from the same owner. She was reluctant to sell the ring but ultimately decided to do so.

About the ring . . .

We can definitively trace its origins to central Europe in the 1920s. That's why we put the date of this item in the 1920s for the listing. However, it's believed to be much older.

It's said to have belonged to Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory. And although the legend of her bathing in blood isn't quite true, she was certainty vampiric in her character and lifestyle.

Elizabeth had raven hair, deep brown eyes, milk-white skin, and the features of a goddess. She was the most beautiful woman in Europe for her time, highly intelligent, refined, charming, and she allegedly murdered 600 young girls.

After her crimes were discovered, she was sentenced to imprisonment for life. Some say she was walled up in her bedchamber, but she most likely was confined to her castle. She died at age 54 in 1614.

Elizabeth was very close to her Aunt Klara. She stayed with her often as a child, and their bond continued into adulthood until Klara's horrifying death. Elizabeth was saddened over the death of her beloved aunt. But this ring brought her comfort. Klara had this ring custom made for Elizabeth, and Elizabeth wore it constantly. It's said to hold incredibly immense power.

György Thurzó, Palatine of Hungary, was responsible for Elizabeth's arrest. Count Thurzo's wife stole Elizabeth's jewelry after her sentencing. Apparently, this ring was among them. Thurzo's wife passed it to her daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, and down the line until it reached a descendant in the 1920s. She was the great grandmother of the current owner. The current owner doesn't remember her great grandmother having it, but she clearly remembers her grandmother having this ring and paranormal activity surrounding it.

This ring is a spiritual power piece. It's like wearing magic on your finger. A hypnotic charm disguised as a ring. The energy is extremely heavy, intense, and demanding. Wearing it causes that power drip to encompass you. It's a fantastic influencer in both personal and professional settings.

The ring fit the owner's grandmother perfectly, and she wore the ring every time she needed to take charge of a situation or person. She said her husband's mood would always change for the better the moment she put on the ring and return to a sour mood when she would remove it. The current owner had similar experiences with the ring. The ring was too big for her so she wore it on a chain around her neck, and she received amazing results for over 30 years.

This ring is highly haunted with the spirit of Elizabeth, according to the owner. She, her grandmother, her mother, and her sister wore the ring to bed at different times over the years, and they all had nightmares of events that took place in Elizabeth's castles. Not vague dreams but realistic, detailed, vivid nightmares. They claim to have gathered information that nobody else ever knew. They said the ring is a secret revealer.

Elizabeth has appeared in homes that housed the ring as well. Not just next to the ring but all over the house. The current owner said she once saw Elizabeth standing in the corner of her bedroom, smiling. The vision was clear and remained for several minutes. When she tried to get out of bed, Elizabeth would step towards her. When she stopped, Elizabeth would stop. She finally darted out of the bedroom door with Elizabeth running behind her. She quickly shut the door!

They've also seen visions of her victims. One time, she and her mother came home from a dinner out and found a girl in the fetal position behind their couch. She was bruised, dressed in rags, and crying. They were terrified. She looked directly at them and then faded away.

These were common occurrences, and the visions usually happened in the late fall and winter months. There have been some summer incidents as well, but as strong, often, or lasting.

We'd rather not sell this ring to anyone with little girls or teenage girls living in the house. There were several incidents where the bracelet caused frightening events for the current owner as a teen (when her mother had the bracelet in the house). We're concerned the same thing might happen with the ring. It seems Elizabeth would welcome anyone over 20 years old to own or live with these items.

Specifics ~

According to the owner, the stone is 4 ct. amethyst, hallowed with white topez, in a platinum embraced band. I did some research, and amethyst was the stone of royalty and nobility in the Middle-Age Europe. It was valuable and difficult to find. This particular amethyst is said to come from "across the sea". That could mean Brazil, but amethyst wasn't mined in Brazil until the 19th Century. She may have been referring to another sea. Topez was also used in Europe for jewelry. It was believed to enhance mental powers. Platinum was discovered in the 16th century, investigated in the 18th century, and used commonly in the 19th century. Elizabeth was ahead of her time in many ways. Her aunt may have been as well since I asked an antique jeweler to look at the ring while it was still in Europe. He believes it's poured platinum. He wasn't able to verify with certainty the age of the ring, but he said there are a few noble and royal rings around from that time period that looked similar in design. This was at the dawn of modern refinement in jewelry. The ring is in excellent condition. We guessed the size of 6.5 based on the owner's grandmother's ring size. It could be worn on any finger or around the neck on a chain. The ring will come to you in protective plastic surrounded by a pixie pouch.


Care ~

Fine jewelry care is recommended. We recommend jewelry removal before showing, washing dishes, swimming, vigorous exercise, manicures, hand and body cream use, and chemical use (such as hair dye, harsh soaps, hand sanitizer, cleaning products, etc.) to avoid exposing the ring to harsh or damaging chemicals or residue that could cause a filmy appearance. Clean with appropriate jewelry cleaner, a soft brush, or soft cloth. Store in a dry area, in a jewelry box, jewelry holder, or jewelry bag. We are not responsible for damage caused by not following proper care instructions.

Important: We pack every single item appropriately using bubble or pillow wrap, cushioning paper, cardboard, padded envelopes, sturdy boxes, fragile stamps, and any other necessary method to fulfill our responsibility as the shipper. Therefore, we are not responsible for damage caused by the postal service after the item leaves our hands. Any shipping problems should be directed to “claims” at the US Postal Service. The insurance included with shipping is $50 to $100. If you’d like up to $5,000, there will be a $10 fee since the cost depends on the distance and whether we use first class or priority mail for your package. We have a listing for additional insurance. Please add it to your order if you’d like additional coverage.

We only ship to addresses within the USA (including Hawaii and Alaska). If you live outside the US and want to order from us, please secure a US shipping address through a mailing service.

We proudly recycle shipping boxes for environmental and economical benefits. About 30 percent of our orders are shipped through recycled shipping boxes. We only reuse boxes that are in proper condition, and we use all new shipping envelopes and packing material.

Not all of our items have “haunting histories” so please read each listing very carefully. For the items that do have haunting histories . . .

They will arrive to you as we receive or find them. We do not “spiritually cleanse”, physically restore, or even dust off these items. They're all sold "as is". We don't want to disturb their energy state as any part of the object is an extension of that energy. If you, the new owner, decide to clean or restore the item, that's your choice, of course, but many do not.
