This gorgeous piece belonged to a young woman who met a tragic end, but her spirit and tenderness live on for those who possess her beloved ring.

Here's the story . . .

The ring was made in the 1920s. It was created for a young woman named Lila. Her mother gave it to her on her 19th birthday. Lila lived in Cohasset, Massachusetts, and was from an upscale family. She fell in love with a young, handsome man who lived on the outskirts of town in a broken down shack with his mother, a poor widow. The man's name was named Stephen. Lila's parents naturally disapproved of the union and did all they could to keep them apart.

Finally, Lila was promised to a wealthy, older man for marriage. At the same time, she learned that she was pregnant to Stephen. Sadly, Stephen vanished and was nowhere to be found. There was a rumor he ran off to Boston to fulfill his dreams. Lila was devastated by her life being so out of her control, and she found herself in several horrible positions, when just one alone would be unbearable.

One cold fall night, she could take it no longer. She left her home barefooted, wearing only a sheer nightgown and her beloved ring. She walked straight into the sea and drowned to death. According to Lila's mother's diary, Stephen was later found bound and gagged in the woods close to his home. Lila's father was responsible and the hope was that he would freeze to death and bother them no longer.

The only thing that washed upon shore were strands of Lila's hair entangled in this ring. The ring was kept by her mother who died from a broken heart within a year of Lila's death. It's not known what happened to her father, but her mother bequeathed the ring to Stephen. He kept it on a chain around his neck until his death in 1954. Since then, it's had two owners - a mother and daughter from Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

The mother, Ann, loved the ring and wore it daily for years. She wrote the history of the ring in her diary and was inspired to write a paranormal article for a national magazine. She experienced many paranormal events that she believed came directly from the ring. She saw full-body apparitions of Lila several times for nearly 30 years. Good luck or unexpected news always followed the next day and peace surrounded her with every visit. She was convinced that Lila's spirit is directly attached to this ring because she loved it in life and wore it during her passing.

In 1982, her daughter obtained the ring due to Ann's passing. She believed that not only Lila's energy is in the ring, and her mother's is, too. She experienced extremely vivid dreams of Lila while wearing the ring. Dreams where Lila warned her of her husband's infidelity, a potentially horrible accident, and financial loss. Due to the dreams, she was able to avoid much heartache. Also, every time she wore the ring to bingo or to the casino, she would win a substantial amount of money. When she forgot the ring, she'd win nothing. She even wore the ring to business meetings and would always get the contract. Being an old lady herself in 2015, she passed, and we obtained the ring.

The ring has an intense charge and energy from it. It's definitely a unique, spiritual item. I am tempted to keep it for myself, but I know it's not meant for me. If you're magnetically drawn to the ring or the story, it's meant to be yours.

Specifics ~

The ring is quartz in silver. Very beautiful and in great shape for its age. It's a dainty, feminine ring that's lighter weight. We don't know the size so it's a guess. I wear a Size 4, and it's too big for my finger. When I try it on, it's comparable to a Size 6, so it's probably a Size 6 or very close. Could be worn on the finger or on a chain around the neck. If it's too big, a guard would probably work to keep it on your finger. It could also be kept in a pouch in your purse or nightstand. It will be sent to you in protective plastic enclosed in a pixie pouch.

Care ~

Fine jewelry care is recommended. We recommend jewelry removal before showing, washing dishes, swimming, vigorous exercise, manicures, hand and body cream use, and chemical use (such as hair dye, harsh soaps, hand sanitizer, cleaning products, etc.) to avoid exposing the ring to harsh or damaging chemicals or residue that could cause a filmy appearance. Clean with appropriate jewelry cleaner, a soft brush, or soft cloth. Store in a dry area, in a jewelry box, jewelry holder, or jewelry bag. We are not responsible for damage caused by not following proper care instructions.

Shipping ~

Important: We pack every single item appropriately using bubble or pillow wrap, cushioning paper, cardboard, padded envelopes, sturdy boxes, fragile stamps, and any other necessary method to fulfill our responsibility as the shipper. Therefore, we are not responsible for damage caused by the postal service after the item leaves our hands. Any shipping problems should be directed to “claims” at the US Postal Service. The insurance included with shipping is $50 to $100. If you’d like up to $5,000, there will be a $10 fee since the cost depends on the distance and whether we use first class or priority mail for your package. We have a listing for additional insurance. Please add it to your order if you’d like additional coverage.

We only ship to addresses within the USA (including Hawaii and Alaska). If you live outside the US and want to order from us, please secure a US shipping address through a mailing service.

We proudly recycle shipping boxes for environmental and economical benefits. About 30 percent of our orders are shipped through recycled shipping boxes. We only reuse boxes that are in proper condition, and we use all new shipping envelopes and packing material.

Vintage & Antique Items ~

Not all of our items have “haunting histories” so please read each listing very carefully. For the items that do have haunting histories . . .

They will arrive to you as we receive or find them. We do not “spiritually cleanse”, physically restore, or even dust off these items. They're all sold "as is". We don't want to disturb their energy state as any part of the object is an extension of that energy. If you, the new owner, decide to clean or restore the item, that's your choice, of course, but many do not. By sending the object to you the way we received it, you can make the decision rather than us making it for you.

Energy cannot be destroyed but can be transferred or transformed. So maybe it’s not such a far-reaching, kooky, or ridiculous idea that intelligent energy could attach to a special object. However, attachment and expression are two different things. Just because a haunted object exists doesn’t necessarily mean it will produce a paranormal result.
