Here's the story . . .

We received this bracelet from our Eastern European curator. We can definitively trace its origins to central Europe in the 1920s. That's why we put the date of this item in the 1920s for the listing. However, it's believed to be much older.

It's said to have belonged to Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory. And although the legend of her bathing in blood isn't quite true, she was certainty vampiric in her character and lifestyle.

Elizabeth had raven hair, deep brown eyes, milk-white skin, and the features of a goddess. She was the most beautiful woman in Europe for her time, highly intelligent, refined, charming, and she allegedly murdered 600 young girls.

After her crimes were discovered, she was sentenced to imprisonment for life. Some say she was walled up in her bedchamber, but she most likely was confined to her castle. She died at age 54 in 1614.

Elizabeth's husband had this bracelet made for her as a wedding gift. She adored it, and it was her favorite piece of jewelry after her wedding ring. She wore it regularly for decades and treasured it because it was a gift from her beloved husband. It was the only possession she asked for right before her death. Apparently, there are paintings of her with this bracelet.

György Thurzó, Palatine of Hungary, was responsible for Elizabeth's arrest. Count Thurzo's wife stole Elizabeth's jewelry after her sentencing. Apparently, this bracelet was among them. Thurzo's wife passed it to her daughter, granddaughter, great granddaughter, and down the line until it reached a descendant in the 1920s. She was the great grandmother of the current owner. The current owner doesn't remember her great grandmother having it, but she clearly remembers her grandmother and mother having the bracelet and the paranormal activity surrounding it.

This is said to be a highly active piece. The wearer appears to "brighten" and become even more beautiful than they are. They fill with exciting energy, enthusiasm, and charm that touches others. They're overly attractive and fascinating to the people around them. It's a real attention grabber but at the same time causes a sense of mystery and intrigue. It has a manipulative element according to the owner. She suggests wearing the bracelet around someone you want to influence or seduce or a situation you want to control.

She said her mother credits the bracelet with getting a new husband, a job promotion, and an excellent deal on a new house. She also got out of speeding tickets and closed several business deals to her advantage. Her mother wore the bracelet anytime she needed to strongly influence others or when she needed to be in control. She even wore it to win disputes as it seems to have intimidating traits. Similar events happened when her grandmother owned the bracelet.

Visions have happened as well with this piece. Several people have seen full-body apparition of Elizabeth. She's usually wearing a red dress with this bracelet, and her hair is usually down. She looks directly at the person she's appearing to. Sometimes she smiles and other times, she's sullen.

The bracelet first came into her house when the current owner was 16 years old. She knew of this bracelet her entire life before that as her grandmother wore it often. It didn't bother her until it was given to her mother and in the house constantly.

She was terrorized after it's arrival. She would come home to her bedroom being totally trashed. Everything thrown all over. She had horrifying nightmares about being a victim of Elizabeth. She was bulled in school and had a string of terrible relationships and friendships. Mirrors would break around her. Wall mirrors along with hand mirrors and mirrors in her compact. A total of 20 or so mirror broke over a 4 year period. Electricity would go out just in her bedroom. And she would wake up in the middle of the night to an awful smell that would cause her to vomit.

When she turned 20, everything negative stopped as abruptly as it started. She would come home from college with roses on her bed with no explanation. She had pleasant, wonderful dreams about being a welcomed guest in Elizabeth's castle. She made wonderful friends and started a relationship with a great guy (she ended up marrying). She hasn't broken a mirror since her teens. And the awful smell was replaced by the scent of roses.

This bracelet is heavy with energy, and it seems to be active on several different levels from visions to attracting romantic partners to causing temporary illness. Because of the owner's experience when she was a teenager, we'd rather not sell this bracelet to anyone with little girls or teenage girls living in the house.

Specifics ~

The owner said the bracelet is made of rubies. We brought it to a retired jeweler. He did the ruby test, and it passed. We believe it to be rubies and gold based upon the owner's statement and confirmation from the jeweler. However, we (at Bloo Moon) can't guarantee that. We also can't guarantee the age. The bracelet is absolutely beautiful. Most of the pictures were taken from a top angle, and they only show one row of rubies. However, there's a double row of deep, encrusted, blood red stones along the top with gold drop sides and a bottom. If you look at the last picture, you can see the second row of stones. The jeweler said there are microscopic scratches on the bottom. I'm not able to see it with the naked eye. To me, it appears to be in excellent to extremely good condition. It's a smaller bracelet, and it's bangle style with no opening. It would probably fit a petite or average size woman the best. It's medium weight. Not very light weight but not excessively heavy. It will come to you in a protective plastic bag inside a pretty reusable pouch.

Care ~

Fine jewelry care is recommended. We recommend jewelry removal before showing, washing dishes, swimming, vigorous exercise, manicures, hand and body cream use, and chemical use (such as hair dye, harsh soaps, hand sanitizer, cleaning products, etc.) to avoid exposing the ring to harsh or damaging chemicals or residue that could cause a filmy appearance. Clean with appropriate jewelry cleaner, a soft brush, or soft cloth. Store in a dry area, in a jewelry box, jewelry holder, or jewelry bag. We are not responsible for damage caused by not following proper care instructions.

Important: We pack every single item appropriately using bubble or pillow wrap, cushioning paper, cardboard, padded envelopes, sturdy boxes, fragile stamps, and any other necessary method to fulfill our responsibility as the shipper. Therefore, we are not responsible for damage caused by the postal service after the item leaves our hands. Any shipping problems should be directed to “claims” at the US Postal Service. The insurance included with shipping is $50 to $100. If you’d like up to $5,000, there will be a $10 fee since the cost depends on the distance and whether we use first class or priority mail for your package. We have a listing for additional insurance. Please add it to your order if you’d like additional coverage.

We only ship to addresses within the USA (including Hawaii and Alaska). If you live outside the US and want to order from us, please secure a US shipping address through a mailing service.

We proudly recycle shipping boxes for environmental and economical benefits. About 30 percent of our orders are shipped through recycled shipping boxes. We only reuse boxes that are in proper condition, and we use all new shipping envelopes and packing material.

Not all of our items have “haunting histories” so please read each listing very carefully. For the items that do have haunting histories . . .

They will arrive to you as we receive or find them. We do not “spiritually cleanse”, physically restore, or even dust off these items. They're all sold "as is". We don't want to disturb their energy state as any part of the object is an extension of that energy.
